A Club, Tokyo, & A Boat; Womb Cruise 2009

Last weekends WOMB boat cruise. (it is set to auto play in HD, so make sure to hit fullscreen button! or if it’s playing slow turn off HD; that would make me sad though)

Cut & Paste Tokyo 2009

Last night I went to Cut & Paste in a humble (my favorite) club in Shibuya, Womb.

Before going any further let me preface this with the fact I did NOT bring my camera.  I did not think I would have gotten in with it, only to get extremly “DOH!“ when so many people were running around with DSLR’s.

Back to the topic! This event was a Design Competition, they had 2D artists (Photoshop + Illustrator), 3D artists (Autodesk Maya), and Motion Graphics (I have no idea).  They had 5 projectors (4 showing contestants screen, 1 showing info + live video), projecting to ~85 in screens susspended in the air above the contestants; who each had a 21 in Citinq pen screen, and Mac Pro workstations!  There was also a DJ off to the side, Video camera man running around, amusing Japanese MC, and many judges walking around.  If this isn’t making your mouth water, your probably not a designer,

This Weekend #1

From now on till I leave I’ll be updating the blog with a new series.  It’s simply my weekend plans, including links to events and any other info!

Friday, Kudan Institutes Sports day @ Shin-kiba, Pink/Red team FIGHTO! We better school teachers at basketball too!   Might head to Womb (nicest, relatively underground, club in Shibuya) later that night to show off a friend in style, a crazy swiss moontain man no less.

Saturday, Cut & Paste, Digital Design Tournament @ Womb 5pm. (click for video of past event) Perfect designer bliss, DJ’s, 2D and 3D design competition, and nicest locales in all of Shibuya!

Sunday,
Womb Cruise!  One nicest clubs in Tokyo is doing a charted crusie around the bay, with 4 decks of DJ’s and a buffet! (click for more info)

Phil out!

Nasty Habbits

I seemingly have a nasty habit of neglecting my blog. It’s been so long since I have updated it, yet so much has happened! Included two out of country trips (Hong Kong and Vietnam), and many other countless stories.

I’ll be attempting–during the wrest of my time here–to post at least 3 things a week. Also going to attempt catchup with the major events (the trips).

Wish me luck!

New Design Live!

Over the next couple of days it should be finalized, and the article pages done.  In mean time, help me find any bugs!  If you find any just send me an email.  Thanks a million.

I’ve Got a Lot To Catch Up On

I’ll admit, I’ve neglected my blog…

Though I’m back, I have a new look idea I’ll be whipping up in the comming week; I’ll be posting much more too…  I think the major reason I neglected the blog, was the fact I was dazzled in the amazement of living in Tokyo again.  I’d go out, and do many things every day (much to the dissapointement of my bank account!).  By the time I would get home, I would sometimes barely have enough willpower to offload pictures from one of my cameras.  Let alone go threw them, delete the blurry dopplegangers of good shots, rate them, and then upload the good ones to flickr.

Thats all changing!  I am now working on making this blog a lot more entertaining, lining up diffrent little projects, and sometimes posting intriguing things I stumble upon from elsewere.  What you have seen in the last 3 days is but a taste of what is to come.  As amazing as posting 3 days in sucession is!

Lastly, I will be intergrating this site into my online persona, so that meens you will have quick acess to flickr, YouTube (switching from vimeo, less restrictive, and more viewerbase) and Twitter.  The latter which I will be ramping up on use in the next week, I can get the mobile site on my Kettai, so I really have no excuse to not tell you how good lunch was!

Neat Little City Video

Originally From AkihabarahNews (watch in fullscreen, it’s HD!)

Just thought I’d post this here, it is the type of video I’d love to make while here!  Though I just don’t have the equipment to do so.  A small pocket digital camera does not make the cut on video quality wise, sadly.

On the other hand, this was actually filmend with a DSLR Camera, Cannon’s 5D MkII.  Which is amazing, when you consider the quality and the ability to change lenses, and get diffrent effects (imagine a fisheye lens, running threw shibuya! That would be a trip!).

My Humble Retreat

Quick tour of my humble retreat here in the chaos of Tokyo, Japan.

Gaijin Invasion
